Another month has passed so it’s time to write another journal entry. It’s hard for me to write these “monthly travel<\/strong> journals” when there is no travel involved but I’m happy to share with you bits of my boring daily life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ever since I was in high-school, on the first of May I used to go to the seaside in Romania to a place called Vama Veche. It’s like a tradition. Every year I pack my things and go camping for a few days at the seaside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vama Veche is a place where people come to party, to be free, and relax. There are several beach bars and each night the party goes on until morning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can honestly say that Vama Veche is one of my favorite places on earth. The beach is quite dull and it definitely doesn’t compare with the exotic beaches I visited in the Philippines<\/a><\/strong>, but there is something special about this place that I can’t describe in words. When in Vama Veche, I feel happy. It’s like suddenly, all my worries go away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given the current situation, Romania was in lock-down for a few months, including on the 1st of May when I was supposed to pack my things and head to my happy place. I am sad to report that I couldn’t make it to Vama Veche but I’m optimistic and I hope that until the end of summer, me and my happy place will meet again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now that I’ve talked about what I haven’t done, let’s talk about what I have done in this past month. Everything happens at a slower pace when you’re not allowed to exit your home unless you’re heading for the supermarket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, things changed on the 15th of May when a new law was released, allowing people to travel inside Romania more easily. I could finally visit my parents and get out of the house!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I spent a little over a week at Brasov (where my parents live) and at Targu Mures (where Dan’s parents live). It was nice to spend time with our family, play games, and catch up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I even received a little surprise. Dan’s mom worked the entire spring and made me a beautiful ie. If you don’t know what a ie is, I’ll help you. It’s a traditional Romanian blouse. It’s usually made from a white fabric that is embroidered with traditional folklore symbols. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It takes a lot of time and dedication to make a blouse with such intricate details. Most of the time, these blouses are passed from generation to generation and they stay in the same family for hundreds of years. You can read more about ie here<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is my first ie and I absolutely love it! I can’t wait for the perfect opportunity to wear it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other than that, nothing really happened this month. I continued my fitness routine, doing exercises at home, and running twice a week. At the end of the month, I even set a new record – I ran 4 km without stopping. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know that for many, 4 km is not a lot but for somebody like me, who just a few months ago couldn’t run more than 1,5 km that’s an accomplishment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though nothing memorable happened this month, I am grateful that me and my family are healthy. I don’t have any travel plans for the foreseeable future. Most probably, this year I’ll explore more of my home country, Romania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can only hope that in the near future things will go back to normal. This year has been an emotional roller-coaster for the entire planet and it doesn’t seem to end soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I tried to keep my motivation levels up but when such a big global crisis hits, it’s hard to stay on track. I managed to write only 1 blog post but at least I updated a few older posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
